Why a good therapist is hard to find

Most people who need therapy don't start with a directory. They start by asking a friend, a sibling, a coworker, or someone from their community. A personal recommendation carries more weight than any listing. But most people won't recommend their therapist publicly because therapy is private — and they don't want to be seen as the person who sees that therapist.

A referral that stays anonymous

On Vherapy, you can refer a therapist without attaching your name to the recommendation. The therapist receives the referral as a submission and can claim the profile. Your identity is never displayed to the public, and you control what you share. The review that may later appear on the profile comes from a verified client, but it is not tied to you in any visible way.

What happens when you refer a therapist

You answer a few questions about the therapist: their name, city, license type if you know it, and why you would recommend them. You can also share what they were like to work with. The submission is reviewed and, if it matches a real therapist, the therapist is invited to claim their profile. If they already have a profile, the referral can be linked to it.

How long it takes

Most referrals are reviewed within a short window. Once a therapist claims their profile, they can request verified reviews from past clients. The whole process is designed to move at the pace of trust: no pressure, no spam, just a real recommendation turned into public proof.

What if the therapist is not on Vherapy yet?

That's the most useful kind of referral. Vherapy will contact the therapist with an invitation to claim their profile. If they do, your referral becomes the seed of their verified review page. If they choose not to, nothing about you is published.

Can you refer more than one therapist?

Yes. You can refer multiple therapists, one at a time. Each referral is reviewed separately. The platform is built on the idea that good therapists deserve to be found, and the people who know them are usually the best ones to make the introduction.

What makes a referral useful

The most helpful referrals include the therapist's city and a short reason for the recommendation. You don't need to write a clinical summary. A sentence like 'She helped me through a hard transition and I felt heard from the first session' is enough. It tells the next person what the experience is like, not just what the therapist does.
